Spiritual formation is often pictured simply as an individual pursuit. It’s easy to think of disciplines such as daily quiet time, prayer, meditation, etc. as all one needs to develop in Christlikeness.

I’m here to tell you that’s not true. God is an eternal relationship of three persons, and God made humans in that image. Relationship isn’t a bonus in our walk with God; it’s essential. We grow in Christlikeness together.

In an effort to model that kind of spiritual friendship, my friends Nate Foster and James Catford and I started the Friends in Formation podcast. The three of us are very different, yet our friendship is rich and deep. We were drawn together out of our love for God and our work with Renovaré, a ministry founded by Richard J. Foster that resources, advocates, and models life with God.

Click here to listen to Friends in Formation, a podcast from Renovaré where the three of us take listener questions about life and faith, with the goal of listening, learning, and helping one another go deeper with God.
